How To Choose the Best and Most Experienced Doggie Daycare Provider.

Providing Doggie Daycare in the following locations and more:

Santa Luz, Rancho Santa Fe, 4S Ranch, Del Sur, Rancho Bernardo, Poway, Scripps Ranch, Rancho Penasquitos

Everyone is aware that the Doggie Day Care business has skyrocketed. Many trainers recognize the booming field of Doggie Daycare and are now possibly considering that it may be financially to their advantage to offer the service as well. Many trainers even advertise that they are Doggie Daycare Providers when in fact all they do is refer doggie daycare providers that offer this service.  For those of us who have been in the Doggie Daycare business for years, even when it wasn't such a booming business, we realize they have a long way to go in understanding the true dynamics at Doggie Daycare.

Canine Nanny Services has not only been providing the #1 Doggie Day Camp &  Doggie Daycare in the greater San Diego area for years, we also offer years of dog handling experience. As an accomplished AKC Canine Evaluator, Patty Yocum successfully evaluates every single dog prior to allowing them to join the Day Camp Dogs Doggie Daycare play groups. You have an opportunity to meet Patty as well, view for yourself exactly what your dog does and how it interacts with other dogs. With a clear understanding of Pack Dynamics, the Canine Socialization Periods of Growth, Fear Impact Stages and Breed DNA, we can assure you that your dog will be with a healthy, fun, and mentoring pack of young and older dogs.

While knowing what to ask a doggie daycare provider is important, it is only part of what you need to do before deciding. As a doggie daycare provider who spends 24 hours a day, every day of the year in the company of all breeds of dogs and all ages, Patty can assure you that referrals from longtime clients as well as new clients speaks volumes.

A good doggie daycare provider has spent years working with dogs, obtaining training and experience, as well as yearly continuing education classes that provides a solid understanding of a wide variety of dog breeds and temperments and the most recent information on canine behavior and health.

Using a reputable doggie daycare provider is a good move . However, reputable does not necessarily mean a large facility or daycare business.  Dogs come to know the same individuals as their pack leader and when too many people are picking up, instructing your dog with inconsistant commands and handling techniques your dog may become confused and not as responsive to you at the end of the day.  Service is one of the keys to a successful doggie daycare business and Canine Nanny Services offers you the best.   At the end of the day your dog will come home a more happy, confident and tired dog and your dog will be healthier from all the exercise. Canine Nanny's  Day Camp Dogs enjoy goining on hikes, outings to multiple parks, the beach and walks.  We tailor your dogs day at daycare with training and positive interaction.  We help your dog develop its free spirit with controlled, acceptable handling.

Please note that as with poorly qualified dog trainers and dog groomers, if you go with a poorly qualified, less experienced doggie daycare provider, your dog may be more likely to be involved in negative situations. As with all dog handlers, including trainers, groomers, veterinarians, and veterinarian techicians, a successful experience for your dog depends on you finding the right person for the job.

All the Canine Nannies at Canine Nanny Services have over a decade of experience working with dogs in behavior, kennel work, veterinarian offices and obedience training.  We volunteer at local shelters and work with placing dogs in homes where their owners can no longer provide the adequate care they need. We truly love being with the dogs and believe your dog will relish the positive environment experienced at our doggie daycare. Our customers rave about our service and how happy their dogs are when they come home!

Here are a few things you should know about the doggie daycare providers at Canine Nanny Services:

Patty has been training and communicating with dogs for most of her life. Growing up on a farm in Iowa she was exposed to a wide variety of animals, their birthing, interaction and training.  She received her first German Shepherd Dog at 10 years old and that was the beginning of her desire to work with dogs.  It is this passion that was a driving force in the development and building of Canine Nanny Services, LLC, K-9 Training Camp, Day Camp Dogs Doggie Daycare and "Tucker's Inn" - Doggie Lodging.  Her two dogs, Tucker, (a German Shepherd Dog) and Sumo, (an English Labrador Retriever) spend their days at daycare and their evenings sharing her home. Patty has obtained the Canine Good Citizen on both Tucker and Sumo. Tucker is also an active Therapy Dog at local schools, retirement homes, hospitals and nursing care facilities. Sumo is currently working with Pawsitive Teams Therapy Program here in San Diego.

Patty Yocum is highly skilled and well trained. She holds the following credentials and titles:
  • AKC Canine Evaluator
  • CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Instructor and Evaluator
  • Certified Pet Tech - First Aid and CPR
  • Pet Sitters International (PSI)
  • Pet Services and Products of San Diego, CA (PSPA)
  • Member of Love on a Leash (LOAL) Therapy Dog Program
  • Member of Therapy Dog International (TDI)
  • Member of International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP)

~ When your dog joins our Day Camp Dogs Doggie Daycare your dog may be hiking, playing at a park or the beach, but most definitely playing with other dogs. Most people that own dogs and that have visited dog parks know that water is more often than not provided, shade is abundant and dogs must be dog friendly.  A good Day Camp provider recognizes when it is not always the safest time of year to go on hikes or the beach.  Rattle Snake season can be extremely dangerous on wilderness hikes and getting your dog to a vet can be next to impossible.  Be careful using daycare providers who take a large number of dogs attached to each other and themselves on hikes during rattlesnake season because if one dog gets bitten the whole pack attached can be in danger and become startled and the handler can loose control.  There is a good time for hikes in San Diego and it should not always be the only method of Day Camp.  During the rainy season it is not always a good idea to take your dog to the beaches either.  The beaches can become contaminated with bacteria and your dog can become ill.  All these things are taken into consideration when your dog is with Canine Nanny Services Doggie Daycare.

~ Dogs play with dogs of all breeds, all colors, shapes and sizes. We recognize that there are two types of socialization, good and bad.  Canine Nanny Services offers your dog good socialization.  Most importantly they play with good dogs at Canine Nanny Services because they are all evaluated prior to joining all the other Day Camp Dogs in Doggie Daycare.

~ Some people may ask what if my dog needs to be rushed to vet for any reason, is there always someone with the dogs. Because there are always more than one person attending to the dogs things such as restroom breaks, emergencies, should there ever be one, are not a problem.  We love your pet and care for your pet very much, we spend the majority of each day with your dog how could we not come to love them. We take extremely good care of the pets in our care.  No clients dog has ever been injured while with Canine Nanny Services.

~ All dogs transported by Canine Nanny Services Doggie Daycare Providers are securely fastened and travel in our climate controlled vehicles. Living in San Diego we have an opportunity to visit the beach areas in the summer months and inland areas in the winter months.  This allows us to give your dog the best opportunity to not be totally inclosed during transportation, but rather have flow through ventillation as well as take in the sites as they go.  Our vehicles are equiped with air conditioning and ventillation fans.  They have the life of Riley.  HOW DO YOU TRANSPORT YOUR DOG?

My view is that a compromise is necessary between the protection of physical and mental health. You can't change your dog's breed. You can't change the genes he inherited from his parents. You can't put him back with his mother and siblings if he or she missed that critical seven week period. You can't undo bad experiences that occurred in his early developmental stages, but you can make positive progress by working on socialization and I hope that you do.
